Background: Aya was born from my need for Rowena to have a confidant that she was close to. She was raised in the same village as Rowena, and they were inseparable from an early age. Aya is a a very talented seamstress.

Relationships: Aya is  Rowena's sister in law and best friend. They have been best friends since they were young. Aya was in love with Brenton (Rowena's brother) much earlier than he saw her as anything other than his sisters pesky friend.  When he finally "saw the light" and realized she meant more to him than he was willing to admit, they were married shortly after. Aya has a tenuous relationship with her mother in law, as she isn't easily "manipulated" and Rowena's mother is used to having the last say in all matters concerning her children. Aya's parents are both now deceased.
