Some believe that everything happens for a reason. When Nan woke up, early this past spring, in a forest, with the most handsome man she had ever seen staring down at her she didn't question the reasoning behind her situation. She experienced a feeling of security deep down to her bones, as if nothing bad could ever happen to her as long as this man, who happened to be an Elf, was looking over her. Nan had a lump the size of an egg on the back of her skull, and no recollection of who she really was or how she came to be on the outskirts of the Glade. She should have been terrified, but her first "feeling" was of safety.
Now it is coming upon the autumn season, and Nan still has no firm memories of who she really is, other than her name is Nan. It is believed she is a seer, as she has fragmented "visions" in which she withdraws inside herself for short periods, unaware of what is happening around her. The episodes come upon her unexpectedly and leave her weak and shaken. In the worst of these visions she sees what she believes to be humans with torches chasing her, shouting at her.
Nan has also realized she has an affinity for plants. She has had short glimpses, like fragments of a dream, where she sees herself gathering plants and applying them to wounds. Are these "glimpses" her memory coming back? They are different than her "visions. Was she a healer?
She knows Koehlon doesn't trust her. He has someone in close proximity of her at all times. Why should he trust her? She does continue to be inexplicably drawn to him however, and feels he is drawn to her as well. When she closes her eyes at night, she has also begun to have dreams, dreams that include a blonde Elf. Nan can never see his face, but his stature and "presence" feel remarkably like Koehlon.
